Since the launch of first hybrid laptop, we knew that hybrids are here to stay. Almost every company opted for hybrid design. Sony is no different. Sony launched their hybrid – Sony VAIO® Flip – in India. Sony VAIO Flip is available in 3 variants considering the screen size – 13-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch. What makes it different than other hybrids is the unique design of the product. Have a look.

Unique Design

Unlike any other Laptop/hybrid, VAIO Flip has 2-hinge mechanism which enables the user to flip the display. Sony VAIO Flip’s display can be flipped to convert it from a laptop to a tablet. Sony has introduced a new type of mode, they call it as “Viewer mode”. One can just flip the display over the hinge to show it to the person sitting opposite to him. Even though most of the hybrids fail to give comfort of a full laptop, VAIO Flip fulfills the need of a perfect laptop. Tablet mode is easy to handle, though while holding it in hands, you may feel that the weight of the laptop is concentrated on the top side while holding it in your hands, making it a bit uncomfortable. But that’s just one small compromise you have to make to enjoy the rest of the Flip.

Triluminos display

Sony VAIO Flip’s display uses Triluminos display technology which is used in Sony Bravia to give user a magical experience with rich colors. The full HD display doubles the fun.

Variants and pricing

13-inch variant is an ultrabook which weights just 1.3 Kg which is lighter than almost all of the available competitors. It comes with 128GB SSD to keep it light and slim. Other variants come with 1TB hard-disk. All the three Vaio Flip models come with Intel i5 4th Generation processor except the F15N17 model which has i7 processor. The 14 and 15-inch models weigh around 1.96 and 2.29 Kg respectively. All the model supports USB 3.0 and a HDMI port along with bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC support.

Camera and Audio

Sony VAIO Flip comes with a 8MP camera unlike any other competitor in the market. Sony’s unique sound technologies such as Clear Audio+TM, xLoud, Clear phase, VPT, Voice Zoom and S-FORCE front surround 3D to offer soul-shaking clarity are used to result in an rich audio experience.

Other features

For limited time, Sony is offering their customers some freebies such as premium Headphone MDR-XB910A worth Rs. 12,990/- and 2 Years Extended Warranty at a price of Rs. 999/- only.

VAIO flip’s charging adapter has been provided with an extra USB port to help you charge your other devices while charging the Flip. VAIO Flip also has a USB port which can charge your device even if it is completely turned off or in sleep mode. Few more features such as unlimited songs downloads for 3 months, accidental damage warranty are included as well.
